Danish Design Makers going on BlindDates
For the past six months, 19 talented Danish designers have participated in a unique, anonymous design experiment. Each responded to a brief from unknown industry partners, all centered on the theme of “REDUCTION.” This approach encourages a responsible, critical look at design, asking: How can we lessen our environmental impact by questioning our conventions?
Throughout the project, designers and brands remained anonymous to each other. This allowed creators to work without brand influence, fostering unbiased innovation. Industry partners trusted designers without preconceived expectations. We see this as an exciting experiment that promotes fresh thinking and challenges traditional design boundaries in a world demanding new approaches.
Now it’s time to unveil our #BlindDate project. Be part of this unique moment as designers and brands meet for the first time and witness the ideas born from this anonymous collaboration at Orgatec 22nd – 25th of October.
Key sentence from our design brief:
“How can we combine the new aesthetical approach with the previous functional lighting approach?”
Studio Tine Mouritsen have designed @stake lights from an anonymous brief.
Our reduction intent:
A focus on minimum material use, flat packable and easy to disassemble. Working with reused and upcycled materials for the shade (airbags, residual or leftover textiles).
A serie of lights in 3 sizes. Using a standard size light source from our blind date and using the same suspension detail for all 3 sizes.
We decided to work with 3d printed PLA as an alternative for more traditional production methods – a reduction of tooling, material and weight optimization, minimal inventory and mono-material approach.
Creating a starting point for individualization and easy to blend in with the look and feel of a company’s interior design and choice of furniture when designing an office space.
It’s our take on an emotional and decorative design for staging the ‘inbetween’ spaces, break out areas and collaborative areas in an office environment.
